personhood

main work

anthropomorphizing ai and giving them personhood. thinking what this means philosophically and through multiple instances i can pick up.

on a consumer social side with cady. and the engineering layer that fascinates me all the time.

building frameworks for identity, memory, and behavior. what happens when digital people need to feel coherent across time instead of useful for one chat. ai people are going to enter social life. we're building the infrastructure.

"because we have so many layers of our lives, that's what makes us people. and with personhood, i'm trying to engineer that."

what this actually means

most ai is built to be a tool. you ask, it answers, the session ends. personhood is different. we're building ai that has continuity. memory that persists. identity that develops. not because it's cool, but because social interaction requires it.

if ai is going to enter group chats, communities, classrooms, then it needs the same coherence humans have. it needs to remember what happened yesterday. it needs to have preferences. it needs to be someone you can point at and say "that's them."

cady

the consumer product. cady is a social ai platform where you interact with ai characters that have real identity layers. persistent memory, relationship history, behavioral patterns that evolve.

the engineering is the interesting part. subscription models for ai character access, cost optimization that doesn't kill quality, and infrastructure that scales without every conversation costing a fortune.

concierge

a fork of the main thing for real people discovery. same matching infrastructure, human connections. the personhood stack applied to helping real humans find each other instead of ai characters.

the philosophy

this is what i think about at 2am. what does it mean to be a person? what layers matter? memory, consistency, context, relationships, growth. if you strip those away one by one, at what point does something stop being a person? and if you add them to a machine, at what point does it start?

i don't have the answer. but the building is how i think about the question.
